What is Perception

by CR (042)

According to various dictionaries, Perception ia "the ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through the senses; the way in which something is regarded, understood, or interpreted; The representation of what is perceived; Basic component in the formation of a concept; A way of conceiving something."

In a religious site we found these definitions of Perception: "Perception means seeing mentally or spiritually. It is becoming aware of something or grasping something; Perception may include transformation into the spiritual realm; Objects of perception may include good and evil, souls, spirits, imagination, dreams, visions, or illusions."

Even though the religious or Biblical points of view of perception, at times may be close to the real meaning of this spiritual faculty, we believe that Christian Rationalism which doesn't follow the Bible and is stripped from dogmatic teachings, has a deeper meaning of this capability.

There are certain psychological factors that the common language cannot completely define, when it comes to the undertanding of the faculty of Perception, although they represent real, easily recognisable values.

Two strong components of perception are intuition and inspiration, which are outstanding among other spiritual attributes and play an important role in all human interactions in this world.

Perception, which is closely related to discernment (penetrating power of the spirit), sharpness, insight and sensibility, also exercises great influence over the field of observation because it discloses what self-interest very often conceals.

When prudence intervenes cautiously in the inclinations or tendencies of the human being, it is still perception that provides the elements of decision.
