There are different ways to look at material possessions. For example there are sayings like this: "Some people are so poor all they have is money" (Unknown) or this: "You can tell how truly rich you are by the amount of things you have that money cannot buy” (Unknown).
On the other hand a gentleman on Facebook, called Ramon Rahman believes that: "Happiness and money are not mutually exclusive... Let’s not demonize wealth". His reasoning is that there are happy people with money and also happy people without much of it, as well as the reverse: unhappy people that are either rich or poor.
On the other hand Christian Rationalism believes that whenever material resources allow it, economy should not interfere with either your good appearance or your material, moral and intellectual needs.
Squandering is just as reproachable as stinginess and miserliness. Everyone should abstain from excess, repel vice, oppose waste and squandering, but not deprive himself of what is necessary.
It should be borne in mind that earthly possessions belong to Earth and will remain here. Human beings are merely the trustees and the managers of material possessions.
One of the most serious mistakes made by many people is to behave selfishly, to enslave oneself to sheer earthly values, in the belief that happiness is contingent on them.
The assets gathered by the spirit in the course of each earthly journey (reincarnation) consist only of its commendable and meritorious actions.
These are, in fact, the only gains the spirit takes along after disincarnation. On the spiritual level, they will fill the spirit with joy and happiness.
